LEGO Exclusive 40083: Christmas Tree Truck Review.

Yesterday I received my delivery from S@H. I ordered 10235: Winter Village Market to finish off our Christmas nativity scene. Also with the order and to push it over the $150 for free delivery, I ordered the last 3 Star Wars series 4 planets. There was a sale on for VIP members on the weekend of the 23rd of November and I was wrapped to get them for $12.79 instead of $15.99. I had planned to get them with this purchase anyway so a little saving is a good saving.   :-)
Included with the order for free was part 2 of the Creator set 40083: Christmas Tree Truck as an Exclusive Promotion. Today we are going to look at the set that is a companion to 40082: Christmas Tree Stand.

LEGO Shop Exclusive 40083: Christmas Tree Truck.
The set contains 118 pieces Free with orders over $100.
Comes with 1 Minifigure: Christmas Tree Truck, Trolley and a small Christmas Tree.

Note: All photo's can be clicked on for a larger view.

The front shows the the Red Truck with an old man pushing a trolley. This is another is a cute little set! In the corner like the previous set it informs you that this is a Limited Edition 2013.

Just like the back of part 1 the back of this box shows you how both Exclusive sets look added together.

Inside of the box the you get 3 unnumbered bags and a couple of loose pieces. You also get a folded  instruction booklet.

All the parts lined out. Some nice Dark Red pieces and the newish 1x2 curved slopes in Dark Bluish Grey.

The old man Minifigure has a double sided torso print which can only be found in one other set 9389: Community Starter Set. Making it a somewhat rare piece. He has a single sided face print.

Here we have a quick step by step build of the Truck. After its built the set is finished.

And here it is! Completed! A sweet looking ride!

Finally here are the spares you get from the set.

Some more photos from a few different angles and one with both sets together.

This was just as much fun to build as it was when I built the first set. Some very interesting techniques were used to build the truck that I have not seen used in a set before. I love the side steps on the side. they remind me of my Dads old F100 back in the day.  Both of these sets will complement the Winter Village theme rather nicely. All in all a fantastic little set, that you really should try to track down! I'm pleased I have it and with both sets next to each other, they look perfect. I wonder what they will come up with next year?

Thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review!

As always and if you want too, let us know in the comments below, what you think of the set. I would love to hear others opinions on it.

LEGO S@H Exclusive 40058: Decorating the Tree Review.

There is just over 4 weeks until Christmas! Man has this year gone fast! Better get the tree out! Until then this little set will have to do. This is another LEGO Shop @ Home Exclusive you can order online. Time to have a quick look at it.

LEGO Shop @ Home Exclusive 40058: Decorating the Tree Review.
The set contains 110 pieces and retails for $12.99.
Comes with 2 Minifigures:  A brick built Christmas Tree, Ladder and Presents.

Note: All photo's can be clicked on for a larger view.

This is another polybag set. Dad and daughter setting up their Christmas Tree

Back of the bag with warnings and where the elements are made.

When you open the polybag the larger pieces are loose and the smaller ones are in a bag. You also get foldout instructions.

All the pieces lined up ready to build. A ton of 1x1 round plates/studs.

Just a quick look at the foldout instructions.

The Dad Minifigure has a single side face print and a single sided torso print. He also has Dark Red pants.

The Daughter has a cute freckle face print and a double side torso print.

A Step by step look at the building of the Christmas tree.

Once the tree is done you get to build some presents and a blue train. I totally dig the train!

Here are the spares you get with this set.

This was a quick build, but a really fun one. The tree is nicely designed although the grey pieces could have been done in brown to give you the look of branches... maybe next time. The ladder is nicely done too. It was difficult to get the Dad to stay on, because his (or anyone's) feet are slightly wider then the inside of the fence piece that is used to make the ladder.. Now the mini train, for me is a winner! I can see myself building a ton of these in different colors :-)
You get plenty of pressies to fill out the bottom of the Christmas tree. It gives you a little warm fuzzy feeling of how Christmas mornings used to looked like when you were a kid.

Thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoyed this quick review!

LEGO S@H Exclusive 40059: Santa's Sleigh Review.

Today we will continue with the Christmas theme and give you a closer look at the LEGO S@H Exclusive 40059: Santa's Sleigh. I ordered this at the same time as the 10232: Palace Cinema. Now originally I had planned to make the whole order a Christmas Theme and buy the 10235 Winter Village Market but at the time of ordering they had ran out of stock. Now my plan is to wait for part 2 of the Limited Edition 2013 S@H give away and buy the 10235 Winter Village Market... Hopefully it will be in stock when the promotion starts.

LEGO Shop @ Home Exclusive 40059: Santa's Sleigh.
The set contains 77 pieces and retails for $12.99.
Comes with 2 Minifigures:  A brick built Reindeer and a Sleigh.

Note: All photo's can be clicked on for a larger view.

This set is a polybag and you will notice that the artwork is different. The photo above is just an example of other sets that use the same type of packaging, all of which I own except for the Business Card Set and will do reviews of them in the near future.

Not a lot on the back just warnings in multiple languages and where the components are made.

When we open the polybag we get a bunch of loose larger elements, a bag of the smaller elements and a fold out instruction sheet, much like in the old days when we got little adverts of other sets available back in the 80's and 90's.

A look at all the pieces in the set.

A sad looking Santa Minifigure. No torso printing, an old wizard style beard and a pirate hat. He has the very common single sided face print.

Santa's head elf... err yeah ok... He has a single sided face print and a printed front and back torso. He also has Red mini legs.

Here is a step by step build of both the Sleigh and the brick built Reindeer.

A look at the complete set.

The spares that come with the set. I am really getting a build up on some of the 1x1 plates now! So glad LEGO are now adding them as spares these days!

Some final shots of the set at different angles.

Bye bye Santa! Happy travels...

When I first saw this at S@H I really liked the look of the set, but now after building it I was left a bit... meh.
Santa really is a bit lacking considering there is now a Santa in the CMF series 8. I suppose they (LEGO) didn't want to add it to this set because they are also releasing the same CMF Santa in this years City Advent Calender. This Set could have been an epic little set, had they used some of the new elements from the CMF range like the Elf hat. Below is just something I quickly put together. By adding in a proper Santa, Elf hat, pants, his little bear and present as well as the Santa sack, I think this set would have been the bees knees!
How the set should have looked.
I like the look of the brick built Reindeer. Such a simple build yet it really shows you what can be done using very little in terms of parts. I think there are 18 parts to build him and I think it looks wonderful. If you have the CMF's to change and add to this set, I recommend picking one up before they are gone! But at $12.99 I can see why anyone would be hesitant to buy one with only 77 pieces.

Thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review!

LEGO Exclusive 40082: Christmas Tree Stand Review

Back in the middle of October the LEGO online Store (Shop@Home) were running an Exclusive Promotion. If you Spent over $100 you would receive a small Christmas set. Today we review is that set. It's Part 1 of  2 and the second set will be available at the end of November.

Note: You can skip the next paragraph if you now all about VIP points...

October was also double VIP points, meaning for every $1.50 spent you would get 2 points instead of the 1 point. With every 100 points you would receive $7.50 off your next order if you so wish, or you can accumilate those points to a higher value and use it whenever you choose to do so. Taking full advantage of the double points the order I placed was for the 10232: Palace Cinema. Instead of getting 128 points I got 256 points. I also added 40058: Decorating the Tree and 40059: Santa’s Sleigh to my order giving me another 32 points instead of the 16 points that it normally is. I had a few points already on my account and that pushed me over the 300 point mark giving me $22.50 off any future purchases.
My goal is to accumulate enough points to knock off some $$$ to purchase the new 10243: Parisian Restaurant Modular being released on January 1st 2014.

LEGO Shop Exclusive 40082: Christmas Tree Stand
The set contains 115 pieces Free with orders over $100.
Comes with 2 Minifigures: Christmas Tree Stand, 3 x small Christmas Trees.

Note: All photo's can be clicked on for a larger view.

I was a bit disappointed that this Exclusive set come to me crushed in my S@H order.  But Very happy to get none the less.

The front shows the Christmas stand with the 2 minifigs. It is a cute little set! In the corner it informs you that this is a Limited Edition 2013.

The back of the box shows you how both Exclusive sets look added together. They look neat and I look forward to picking up the second set at the end of November.

You get 3 unnumbered bags and an instruction booklet.

A quick look at all the pieces. Some really useful pieces in this set.

The female Minifigure comes with a new color beanie in Medium Lavender. The beanie is also available in this years Friends Advent Calender. She comes with a single side face print, printed front and back torso.

A standard male Minifigure with the new cap with hole on top. He comes with a single side face print, printed front and back torso.

A broom and axe holder. Those pine needles really make a mess when chopping with the axe.

A quick step by setp build of the Christmas stand for those of you that missed out on the set so yo can replicate it using your own parts.

A Shot of the stand all completed.

Now for some shots of the set as a whole.

Here are the spares that you get in this set.

Overall this was a cute little set to build. It was nice to get it free with my S@H order. With all the sets that we own we don't have too many of the small spruce trees and this is a great set to build those numbers up. If you are after these they are few and far between unless you have the winter village sets that are released each year. I'm glad I place a second order in October to receive a second set of this while getting the LOTR Tower of Orthanc with the double VIP points and getting 372 points instead of 186 points. I cant wait till the end of November to pick up part 2 of this Exclusive series and start building my Winter Village nativity scene, and have it ready for Christmas.

Thanks again for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review!
