LEGO Ninjago: Cole - Rebooted Minifigure Review.

Well this is it! The final Minifigure review for "Ninjago Month". We hope you have enjoyed these reviews as much as I have and it's helped you in deciding if you need to add them to your collection. I have had a real blast doing these and I thank Minifigures for the opportunity in doing them! I wonder what will be next!

Also, please make sure you go to the "Minifigures" Facebook page tonight for the "Forth and final round match-up" as Zane and Cole go head to head and vote* for your favorite Minifigure for your chance to Win It! The winner is announced on Monday!
(*Voting closes Sunday 11:59pm)

For our last Ninjago Rebooted “Minifigures” review of the month, we are going to take a look at the team's leader “Cole – Rebooted” from the 2014 Ninjago theme. This Black Ninja has all new printing on his "Techno robe" torso that’s similar in style to Jay’s. The highlights include Metallic Gold printing over the Dark Bluish Gray sash and Orange lava running across the torso really make this pop. This can sometimes be hard to do on a Black piece. On the back he has an Earth “power” emblem printed in Metallic Gold. Cole has a single sided face print that features his thick bushy eyebrows to help complete his scowl. His hair piece has only been used twice before (Skater from the Collectible Minifigures Series 1 and 41005 Heartlake High Friends set). Cole also has the new bandanna piece in Black and is exclusive to him. With Cole being the team leader, you will need him in your collection to help lead his friends to victory!

LEGO Ninjago: Zane - Rebooted Minifigure Review.

We are on to our forth and final week of the Ninjago Rebooted minifigure Month reviews.  This week we look at Zane - Rebooted, be sure to check in on Friday to see what the final "Minifigures" review for the month!

In today's “Minifigures” review we are going to take a look at “Zane – Rebooted” from the 2014 Ninjago theme. This version of the White Ninja has an all new and exclusive “Techno robe" torso. His robes are completely different in style compared to all the other coloured ninjas. The ice cracking around his symbol looks fantastic. On the back of Zane’s torso he has the same ice creature emblem as his “Battle Damaged robe”. Zane’s head piece has a single sided face print. His hair piece is the same as the “Battle Damaged” version and previously used back in 2009’s “Agents” theme. Like all his other Ninja pals, he too has the new White bandanna. Zane is the only ninja to have two unique variants in this 2014 Ninjago wave. This clean version of Zane is from a Limited and Hard to Find set and is essential for all you Minifigure collectors out there.

LEGO TECHNIC 42023: Construction Crew Review

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've done a review for Oz Brick Nation, I've been too busy building LEGO (well, too busy working, building has to wait until late at night when work's over and the kids are a sleep!).

I've built some great sets over the last couple of months, including all of The LEGO Movie sets (except the Sea Cow, waiting for it to be stocked in retailers in Australia), as well as some of the new Legends of Chima and TECHNIC sets. And I can't forget the mighty 75059: Sandcrawler, which is an amazing model and worth purchasing if you get the opportunity.

Speaking of TECHNIC, I think it gets overlooked a bit in the LEGO world, especially by the ever popular City and Star Wars sets. It was actually TECHNIC which brought me out of my LEGO dark ages, and I love building TECHNIC sets. They can be very challenging builds, and provide great functions, including Power Functions and pneumatics.

I've recently built one of the new 2014 TECHNIC sets, 42023, which is called "Construction Crew". It's actually made up of 3 separate models, a Dump Truck, Excavator and Front End Loader. I can't recall LEGO making a set like this in the past, and it's an interesting concept they've come up.

Set Number: 42023

Theme: TECHNIC

Set Name: Construction Crew

Part Count: 833

Australian RRP: $99.99

Featuring: 3 models! An excavator, dump truck and front-end loader.

In the box are 6 separate bags, numbered 1-3 for each of the 3 models, as well as an instruction manual for each build, and of course a sheet of stickers.

Bag 1 constructs a red excavator.

Building the excavator is fairly quick, and I completed it in about an hour. It has a small linear actuator that lifts the boom up and down, and a small lever on the side of the boom that tips the bucket. The body can also be rotated by the black pin sticking out the top of the body.

Bag 2 constructs a blue dump truck.

Building the dump truck took a bit longer than the excavator, probably 1.5 hours, as it has more pieces and is a bit more fiddly constructing the front chassis of the truck. It has a small linear actuator that drives the dump bucket up and down, and "hand of god" steering.

Bag 3 constructs a yellow front end loader.

Building the front end loader took a similar time to the excavator, just under an hour. It has a small linear actuator to drive the front bucket arm up and down, "hand of god" articulation to steer, and a small lever on the side of the bucket arm that tips the bucket. The front end loader contains new tyres as well, and they look fantastic on this model!

The simple builds of each model will appeal to those who are new to TECHNIC, as will the 2-3 functions each model contains. If you're a long term or hard core fan of TECHNIC, this set may not appeal to you as much due to this simplicity, but at the same time each model is a fun little build.

Overall, I'd rate this set a 7/10, being a huge fan of TECHNIC I typically enjoy larger, more complex builds, and models with more functionality.

I hope you've enjoyed our review of 42023: Construction Crew, please leave us a comment below and let us know your thoughts on the set.

Until next time, this is Chris signing off for Oz Brick Nation.

LEGO Ninjago: Sensei Garmadon Minifigure Review.

Our second Ninjago minifigure review for this week is Sensei Garmadon, be sure to check in on Monday for the final week of Ninjago Month to see what the next "Minifigures" review will be!

Also, please make sure you go to the "Minifigures" Facebook page on Friday Night (tonight) for the "Third round match-up" as Evil Wu and Sensei Garmadon go head to head and vote* for your favorite Minifigure for your chance to Win It! The winner is announced on Monday!
(*Voting closes Sunday 11:59pm)

In today's “Minifigures” review we are going to take a look at Sensei Garmadon from the new 2014 Ninjago themeOnce evil, now turned good, Sensei Garmadon features a double sided printed torso. Details include Light Bluish Gray Robes with a Green sash over a Black Kimono; a Gold medallion and Gold Asian symbols. He also has a Gold snake emblem in the centre of his back. Garmadon’s robes continue down on to his legs with printing, that very few Minifigures have in this Ninjago series. The Sensei has a single sided face print with wonderful features like large bushy Gray eyebrows, wrinkles and a scowl. His hair piece is Dark Bluish Gray and is exclusive to him; it’s the same hair style as the new Lloyd Minifigure. We don’t get too many “seasoned” Minifigures and even if you need him to complete your collection, A couple more to go around your City wouldn’t hurt.

For the Month of May, this Minifigure & 9 others from the Ninjago range are just $10 each.

LEGO Ninjago: Evil Wu Minifigure Review.

We are on to our Third week in Ninjago Rebooted minifigure Month reviews.  This week we look at  Evil Wu, be sure to check in on Friday to see what the next "Minifigures" review will be!

In today's “Minifigures” review we are going to take a look at Evil Wu from the 2014 Ninjago theme. Wu has a double sided torso print featuring Black and Dark Purple highlights. Details include Metallic Silver metal plating that’s exposed from one half of his robes; his belt buckle has what looks like a fancy looking W symbol made from lightning bolts. There’s more metal plating and a saw blade emblem printed in the middle of his back. His head piece has double sided printing too. The front of Wu face has metal plating with “evil” Red eyes, while the back of the head only has some plating to one side. This incarnation of Wu, we see him with a Black beard instead of his traditional White beard. The colour of his conical Asian hat has changed again, this time to a Flat Silver which matches his overall look. If you own any of the “good” Wu’s, then you are going to want get this “evilWu to round out his continuing story.

He has a different style robe compared to the Lloyd” and Kai Minifigures. The Dark Blue and Metallic Silver printing are a nice touch. The lightning bolts shooting across his sash are equally as good. The back of the torso has what looks to be some sort of “Cloud Elemental” that has three lightning bolts coming from the bottom. Jay has a single sided face print with a slit missing from his right eyebrow. His hair piece is quite common in Dark Orange. He also has the new bandanna mouth piece and his is in Blue. In today's “Minifigures” review we are going to take a look at “Kai – Rebooted” from the new 2014 Ninjago theme. This Red Ninja has all new printing on his "Techno robe" torso that’s similar to Lloyd’s in style. He has a wonderful double sided print with some really lovely details on him. The Dark Red and Gold printing go well together and they top it off with some Red and Yellow flames just above his belt. The back of the torso has an awesome Gold Dragon emblem print surrounded by fire. Kai has a single sided face print sporting a stylised scar going across his left eye. His hair piece is all new and is exclusive to this Minifigure. It has a soft rubbery texture to it (a great looking sculpt too). He also has the new bandanna mouth piece in Red and it’s definitely going to be on everyone’s wish list! This is another exciting looking Ninja and who doesn’t like Red?! Also, please make sure you go to the "Minifigures" Facebook page on Friday for something special that's in conjunction with this weeks Minifigure reviews!!

In today's “Minifigures” review we are going to take a look at Pixal, (Primary Interactive X-ternal Assistant Life-form). She is an all new character and Minifigure from the 2014 Ninjago theme. Pixal has a double sided printed torso, featuring a Dark Purple top with red highlights and a Silver Sash. There is also Purple Circuitry exposed over the White torso. Pixal has Purple Circuitry printing on both sides of her head piece, including an angry facial expression with red eyes on the one side, and a pleasant smile with lovely looking Green eyes on the other side. I was quite impressed with her super fine lip liner printing in Metallic Silver. Her hair piece colour is Flat Silver and is exclusive to this Minifigure. She has Dark Purple legs, her left arm is White and her right arm is Dark Purple. Pixal is a fantastic Minifigure with finely printed details and you won’t be sorry to add her to your Ninjago Minifigure collection.

LEGO Ninjago: Zane "Battle Damaged" Minifigure Review.

The team over at Minifigures are celebrating Ninjago Rebooted Month. Our friends are offering an amazing deal for you - 10 Ninjago Minifigures for $10 each.

So to kick it off we were asked if we could supply the images and reviews for most of the Ninjago Rebooted Minifigures. For this month we will be posting a couple of reviews each week, so be sure to check in and see what the next "Minifigures" review will be!

Lets take a look...

In today's “Minifigures” review we are going to take a look at the “Zane – Rebooted” (Battle-damaged) Minifigure from the 2014 Ninjago theme. This version of the White Ninja has an all new and exclusive Battle-damaged “Techno robe" torso. Exposed from his torn robes are mechanical components in Metallic Silver. Other details include; Light Blue wires and Gold plating. On the back of Zane’s torso there’s an ice creature emblem in the centre of his back and some minor tearing to his robe. Zane’s head piece has double sided printing. The front left side of his face has metal plating that reveals his robotic left eye. The printing on the back of his head has some plating off to the left. His hair piece is in Tan and was last seen back in 2009’s “Agents Theme”, so it’s nice to have it return. Like all his Ninja pals, he too has the new White bandanna mouth piece. Although Zane is the only ninja in the group to be a robot, don’t make him feel “left out” and be sure to add him into your Ninjago Minifigure collection.
